Jesus is the perfect example of being misunderstood, time after time. Even those closest to him did not understand his being. He often resorted to a parable, painting a clear picture with words, hoping they might see what he was saying. Even then, did they? His ultimate death and resurrection are still a misunderstood reality. His birth, life, death and resurrection are a clear picture of redemption. How could something this clear be misunderstood? The fact that it is helps me to realize there will always be the probability of my being misunderstood, no matter who the person, what the situation, no matter what the action.
I remember Jesus came eating and drinking and doing miracles, misunderstood. John the Baptist came neither eating nor drinking and did no miracles, misunderstood.
You may misunderstand my words, actions and so forth, thus I stand misunderstood, and between the two a great chasm of misunderstanding, a chasm which only love can span.
“Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.”
(2 Timothy 2:7)
“Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.”
(Proverbs 3:13)
