Sanctified. Well, that’s a sorta big word, bringing with it some awesome thoughts -particularly and especially in the realm of “God thoughts.”
Perhaps we should begin with a dictionary definition, i.e., “purity, holy, living free from sin; also includes the concept of being set apart.”
Think about this not as a doctrine, but just as an interesting thought: what if we are sanctified before we are born, in our mother’s womb, as in set apart for holy use or holy purpose, in the image of God?
God has a salvation provided since before the foundation of the world for every human born or yet to be born.
“According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:”(Ephesians 1:4)
It is not surprising that we continually search for that which will satisfy our soul in all manner of ways, not really always knowing or understanding. We are part way there (by His mercy), being set apart in our mother’s womb for God.
So, yes, I believe in God and His mysterious ways of provision, but I wonder: does He believe in me? Does He believe through me to enable me to become completely sanctified?
I give thanks for the mysterious provision of sanctifying grace, the ultimate fulfillment of His plan of salvation, and He doesn’t require that I understand it.
All we need to do about it is seek Him with all our heart, and He will do the rest.
